My Work:

I teach computer science at UCC and my research focuses on the design of multimedia applications and communication networks.
My Typical Day:

I wake up and help my kids to go to school before heading to work. My time at work is split between teaching and research.

Both involves reading to keep up to date with the evolving technologies, sharing this knowledge with my students, and applying the gained knowledge to build new computing systems. As as senior researcher, a good portion of my time is spent meeting other researchers to brain storm novel idea and advise younger researchers.
What I'd do with the prize money:

I would like to buy a virtual (or augmented) reality glass and use it to demo the technology to school students.

Primary and secondary education at Garden City School, Cairo, Egypt.

BSc and MSc in Engineering at Cairo University, Egypt.

PhD in Engineering at University of Toronto, Canada.
Qualifications:

2000 – BSc in Electionics and Electrical Communications Engineering.

2003- MSc in Electrical Engineering.

2007 – PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering.
Work History:

I have been working in academia for more than 20 years at different institutions in Egypt, Canada, and Ireland.
Current Job:

I am currently a Senior Lecturer at the school of computer science and information technology.
