About Me:
I now live in Edinburgh, but I was born and raised in Dublin. During the day I can be found doing an Ecology PhD, but the rest of the time I like to do Jiu Jitsu 🥋, go for walks ⛰, bake 🍰, and go on mini-cycling adventures 🚵♂️.

My Work:
I am doing a PhD in Ecology (how things in nature work and interact). I study how climate change is making things happen earlier in spring, like when trees grow leaves or birds lay eggs. This can cause problems because some animals might not find what they need at the right time.

My Typical Day:
I always start my day with breakfast (my favourite at the moment is Weetabix and banana). I get to my office around 10am. I spend most of my day looking at data and trying to figure out patterns. I have a lunch break with my friends, and a late afternoon biscuit break as well. I cycle home around 5.30pm.

For three months a year (April-June) I have more exciting tasks! This is when I go out to the forests and collect data. Our team visits forests all over Scotland, so it is a lot of hard work.
We have lots of boxes that birds lay their eggs and every day we go to see whether the birds have laid eggs, the eggs have hatched into baby birds, or these baby birds have gotten big enough to leave the nest. The chicks are very cute so this is a very fun part of the job!
We also see how many insects and caterpillars are around, because these are what the birds eat. We are trying to see whether the birds have enough food.
