What I love most about being an academic is the thrill of those “aha” moments during research, where I uncover something new and, for a brief moment, I’m the only one who holds that knowledge. It’s an incredible feeling that drives me to share it with others and contributes to a larger understanding in the field.

Additionally, being a researcher means each day is different. I enjoy the variety of my work—whether it’s exploring new research questions, mentoring students, or designing engaging coursework. Every day offers an opportunity to learn, grow, and inspire others to do the same. This constant intellectual challenge and the chance to make a positive impact on students and the broader academic community make this role incredibly rewarding.

The science and the people! there are always new discoveries and interesting findings that make all the hard work worthwhile, and the people around you that feel the same are just as amazing, they inspire you to keep going and help you through tough times too.
